MDF Water-resistant Mahogany Quartered veneer brushed: what is it?

MDF moisture-resistant is a widely applicable board suitable for a variety of interior panelling applications where the space is humid, such as in bathrooms and kitchens. The V313 characteristic comes from the test for moisture resistance that the board material undergoes, called V313. It indicates that the board is not only moisture-resistant, but also water- and mould-resistant. Note that the board is not waterproof! Moisture-resistant MDF boards are composed of dried wood fibres and glue. These wood fibres are then compressed under high pressure and temperatures to form an MDF board. In MDF moisture-resistant, a special, moisture-resistant type of glue is used. To enhance the moisture-resistant properties, the material is pressed under a higher pressure compared to MDF blank. The extra-hard pressing makes this type of wood easy to work with. Moisture-resistant MDF boards can be recognised by their green core. MDF Water-resistant Mahogany Quartered veneer brushed is not suitable for outdoor use.

MDF Water-resistant Mahogany Quartered veneer brushed, sheet material with a natural topcoat

Unlike melamine faced board material, the top layer of veneered panels is a layer of real wood. This gives the material a peaceful, natural look. Because it is a natural product, there may be differences in colour and structure between different panels. No two panels are the same. In addition, it is important that this panel is finished with a varnish or oil as desired. This prevents discolouration and preserves the top layer.

The great advantage of veneered board material compared to solid board material is that it does not warp. The MDF core of this board material gives it the advantages of MDF, but the appearance of solid and natural wood.

Mahogany veneer

Wood veneer with a mahogany look has an elegant and warm aesthetic, characterised by a deep red to reddish-brown colour and a smooth, even grain without overly prominent patterns or markings.

The look of mahogany veneer is classic and timeless, making it suitable for a variety of interior styles. The colour of the veneer usually ranges from reddish-brown to dark red, depending on the specific source and treatment of the wood.

Mahogany wood veneer is often appreciated for its elegant and refined appearance, and it can be used for furniture, cabinets, interior finishes and decorative elements. Its even grain and deep colour allow mahogany veneer to be integrated into a variety of designs, from traditional to contemporary, adding a sense of warmth and timeless beauty to interiors.

Crown cut or Quartered veneer

Cutting logs is usually done in two different ways: crown / plain or kwartiers. When the wood is cut crown / plain, long slices are cut lengthwise. This allows the flames of the material to be clearly seen and makes the best use of the wood. When the wood is kwartiers cut, it is cut with the grain. This gives kwartiers sawn timber a calm appearance and relatively straight lines. In mix, these two techniques are processed interchangeably and used during the compilation of the veneer. This creates a natural whole and makes each slab unique.

Available thicknesses of MDF Water-resistant Mahogany Quartered veneer brushed

MDF damp-proofing boards can be ordered online in various thicknesses. So you can be sure that the board material meets your requirements: both the format and the thickness of the material. The following thicknesses are available: 19 mm.

Processing of MDF damp-proofing boards

MDF is very easy to process: when milled and sawn, the material does not splinter. To do justice to the moisture-resistant properties of moisture-resistant MDF, it is important to seal the board properly. The top and bottom sides can be sealed with a primer or a lacquer coating. The ends deserve some extra attention. MDF fibres have an inherent suction effect. In the case of MDF moisture-resistant, this is less than for blank MDF, yet it is still important to treat these with an edge sealer. In addition, primer acts as an adhesive, which makes the final coat of paint more attractive.

Specific applications of MDF Water-resistant Mahogany Quartered veneer brushed

MDF is the material of choice for furniture and interior applications. This can be a cupboard, a wall or an entire casing. With this moisture-resistant variant, the furniture is also suitable for the bathroom, garage or kitchen. Examples of projects are a partition wall in the bathroom or a window sill. Thanks to the decorative top layer of real wood, MDF Water-resistant Mahogany Quartered veneer brushed is ideal for making bathroom furniture, kitchen cabinets and other furniture that is regularly exposed to high humidity.
